The answer varies as wide as "yesterday” to “not for a long time”.

For most people, there is a difference between when you can retire and when you want to retire. In order to mentally and financially prepare for retirement, you should know your options. If you learn that you should work longer than you want to, there are sometimes financial tradeoffs you can make in order to hit the timeline you prefer.
